Cast of Characters
I’m beginning to think that maybe I need to keep a list of character names and who they are in accordance to me and, more importantly, this blog. So here goes, in alphabetical order (we’ll see how long that lasts).
Abby: The new girl at work. Began working with us around July 2008. Good natured Buddhist with a keen love for talking. She’s all around fun and has a good heart.
Allison: The older sister. See Spencer.
Aunt, The: I love her so, so much and the feeling is mutal. Probably the only ‘warm’ female presence in my family. She’s kind but demands people to give her respect for respect to be given in return. I can definitely identify with this. She’s known to tell people how it is and is never afraid to piss someone off to ensure what is best gets achieved. She’s a real-estate agent by trade, but an incredible person by nature.
Caleb: A boy I semi-grew up with (from age 8-11) because his dad worked for my dad. Just recently came back into my life to tell me just how much he believes we are ‘meant to be together.’ (I blocked him. On EVERYTHING.)
CC: One of my besties/coworker. Sweet, fun, but relatively older than myself. She’s like a second mother to me and I generally take what she says and apply it to my life. Also, fellow Libra and we must stick together. :-) Best friends since 2006.
Chance: A guy I went out with a few times (I gave him a chance, hence the name) in late-June/early-July 2008. Since then he’s given me the creeps and has a tendency to stalk and/or consistently make his presence known through missed phone calls and a hell of alot of texts. He pops up at times and doesn’t go away for a very long time.
Ex, The: Exboyfriend turned good friend. Don’t speak to too much in fear of him growing too attached. Flame: November 2005 - May 2008. (Long story.)
Father/Dad: Since Christmas, I’ve become closer to him. We joke and he’s been known to do some of the stupidest/funniest things. I like to record them, if at all possible.
Grandma: See Mother.
Heartbreaker, The: Previous love interest. Current semi-friend. He broke my heart with empty promises. Now that we’re friends, we don’t speak to each other too often for my fear of growing attached again. When we do get together, it’s typically a big deal in an emotional/mental way. Also, a youth leader at a local church, which solidifies the fact that it could never work out. Known since 2003; flame extinguished in 2007.
“Her”: (Always capitalized.) LG’s girlfriend. Enough said. She’s about as interesting as this description of her is. (No, they never broke up but really, since I’m not seeing LG any longer, why would I leave her un-crossed out.)
Ian: (For kicks.) Intimately Active Necessity. Ha.
Josh: Reigning from Alabama, I began talking to Josh in late April through Tumblr. Incredibly funny, sweet, witty, and all around amazing to be with. We became official, after much flirting, on April 25, 2009. He makes me wish I lived a little further south. He’s just incredible.
KK: Close friend/coworker. Funny, pretty, and otherwise known as my crazy, yet more religious version of myself. Known since 2007.
Kyle: Teenage son of CC. Mature for his age and generally has many of his own words of wisdom which generally involves stating the obvious.
Kristy: Best friend from the age of 2 until about 10. Haven’t spoken to her since high school. (She lives in Boone, North Carolina and I haven’t spoken to her in a good while. If she comes back around, I’ll un-strike her.)
LG: Close friend of mine and love interest. He’s smart, witty, and too sarcastic for his own good. Met through my place of work when we realized that we knew many of the same people and had too much in common (which is rare in this town). Close since late-February 2008; flame extinguished on September 5, 2008… and again in early November.
Mae: Former coworker/Current friend. Crazy. Crazy. Crazy. Sweet and good hearted but tends to get herself in romance trouble more often than not.
Marie: On/Off girlfriend to Spencer. Pretty one-dimensional. She has a tendency to do things that anger Spencer and thus, effects the entire family. Not many like her. (They finally broke up mid-October of 2008.)
Michelle: The little sister. Sweet, but utterly mischievious. What more can you expect, though, from a 6 year old?
ML: A really close friend of mine, CC, The Boss, and Mae. Used to work at the shop prior to me working there but we became friends through CC many moons ago. She’s lovely. Very hyper, funny, and all around an incredible person. We have this weird thing (connection) in common: neither of us are getting any.
Mother: Used to get along with well but recently, we haven’t gotten along. She’s the reason behind my frustration more often than not.
Mr. Texas: The incredibly, uber cute ‘Southern boy’ that lives about an hour or two away. Met in early August 2008 at work. He came in with a couple friends one Saturday and we introduced ourselves. Shortly after, he added me on MySpace with only my first name and place of work in mind. Does this make him a stalker or a really good researcher? Or maybe, he’s determined! Mr.Texas is his name because of his heavy southern accent that happens to not fit his outward appearance… Like in Texas.
Natalie: A really good Welsh customer. Super sweet and amazing with realistic advice. Pregnant, due in early January.
Reid: An old guy friend from high school. Met him through SM when I was a sophomore in high school (2004). Went on a couple casual dates with him. We talk every so often but not too frequently: he lives in Raleigh. (He’s let me be since I gave him the URL to this blog.)
RT: CC’s serious boyfriend. Hilarious and level-headed. He tends to be the topic of conversation when it comes to CC. ;-)
Sam: One of the besties. She’s smart, funny, and not to mention, witty as hell. She’s my rational side and keeps me grounded. Met her through SM. Been there through thick and thin since 2004.
SM: One of the besties. My crazy side. The things I never have the guts to do, I live through her. Been practically inseparable since meeting in the high school marching band, 2003.
Spencer: The older brother. We had a falling out and haven’t spoken to each other much since early-July. But he sometimes comes up.
Tara: Spencer’s new [underage] girlfriend. Sweet, fun… I could honestly see myself hanging out with her. Weird since we’re talking about someone my brother dates. (They endured a nasty break up in late March 2009.)
The Boss: Exactly what that says. She’s my boss at the coffee shop I semi-run with help from CC. She was once cold, strict, and bordered on mean but has just recently began to open up and become nicer. Says the funniest things in which I am forced to Twitter. She laughs at me for it. Been my boss since March 2006.
Tonya: Best friend, Kristy’s, mother. Rumored abuser. No clue if that rumor will ever transform into fact. She’s never brought up anymore. If she is, I’ll un-strike her.
Wino, The: this regular customer has a long, hard relationship with his girlfriend. I truly believe that he thinks that if he asks me for advice long enough, I’ll come around and warm up to him. He has anger issues and is easily frustrated. But he says some of the most hilarious things.
Wyn: A classmate/really good friend of mine. Met in September of 2008. She’s really sweet but incredibly shy. We swore to each other that she would show me how to cook and ‘Friends’ while I showed her shopping methods and ‘Sex and the City.’ It was a done-deal. :-)
